Easynews, the world’s leading browser-based Usenet newsgroup provider, is pleased to announce a brand new NNTP-only plan available to all users starting today. The new NNTP-only plan will cost $9.95 per month and comes with 20 connections.

As always, new users will be able to try our web-based service free for 2 weeks with a 10GB trial account.

NNTP is an Internet application protocol, similar to the more familiar “http” as part of the “http://www” that begins most website addresses. NNTP stands for Network News Transfer Protocol and and is used specifically for transferring Usenet news articles between news servers. Easynews’ NNTP-only account will allow you to setup a connection to their news servers using a newsreader application, instead of using Easynews’ browser-based interface.

As the leading browser-based Usenet newsgroup reader, competing in the NNTP market is the next logical step for Easynews. It recently hit a new milestone by reaching 972 days of NNTP retention. With plans to expand its services even further in 2011, Easynews is poised to be a major contender against major NNTP-only Usenet newsgroup services.

Additional enhancements will continue to be introduced over the coming months to further expand the overall Easynews offering. Subscribers can look forward to developments such as app-free support for mobile devices as well as usability enhancements to the Easynews browser application.
